Creating A Powerful Facebook Ad Using Power Editor

According to facebook

It is our bulk ads creation and management tool, tailored specifically for large advertisers. Power Editor is our best tool for advertisers who work at scale and need precise control of their campaigns.

In simple words Power Editor gives you more freedom and control in your Facebook ads. “Boost Post” is a waste of time and money for advertisers. As stated by Jon Loomer, there are 5 reasons why advertising people should use Power Editor;

1. Features

2. Placement

3. Bidding

4. Targeting

5. Bulk Creation

In this post, we will create a powerful Facebook ad using Power Editor that will help us get leads. I will show you the basic and important steps in creating Facebook Ads.

Facebook has recently made changes on the  Ad Sets and Ads. Here is a brief comparison of changes according to Jon Loomer.

Important Questions

Before we create Facebook ad, we should answer these following questions. These are important  guide in filling up the required fields during ad creation and specially in optimization.

1. What is the objective of the ad?

2. What is the daily budget?

3. What schedule the ad will be shown to users?

4. Which News Feed the ad will be the placed? Desktop? Mobile? Desktop Right Column? or in Partner Mobile Apps?

5. Who are the target audience of the add?

Well here are the responses;

1. To generate leads

2. Daily budget is 40.00 Php (1.00 US dollar)

3. The ad will be scheduled on Friday until Saturday (between 5:30PM – 9:00PM). This is based on bufferapp that Facebook engagement rates are 18% higher on Thursday and Fridays and  32% more on weekends.

4. The ad will be posted on the Desktop News Feed.

5. Target audience will be the working mothers living in the Philippines. The range of the age will be 18-50 years old.

This will be our ad.

Prerequisites

In addition to above questions, the following should be available;

1. A Facebook page that suits your product or service.

2. A poster image for the Facebook add.

3. Effective email catcher and thank you page.

4. Storage of the email addresses of the leads. In this post, we will use  Mailchimp.

Facebook Poster Image

A Facebook ad must have an image but it is not just an ordinary image. It should support the “promise” of your product.  Vision is one of the best human factor in stimulation. So, the image must be crafted perfectly. The recommended size is 1200 x 627 pixels. Canva is a perfect tool in editing images for Facebook ads. It has already a template for such purpose.

Facebook has a 20% rule in images used in ads. An ad with more the 20% text on its image will not be approved since it looks like a spam and low quality ad. The Grid Tool of Facebook will check if your image has passed the 20% rule.

Email Catcher and Thank You page

Another requirement in getting leads in Facebook ads is the use of an email catcher or others call them as landing page. As stated on its name, the only purpose of the email catcher is to get the email address of the leads. It should be simple yet consistent in relation to the ad’s message. Unbounce is a site that specializes in making email catcher and thank you page. You can register to them without fee and use their FREE templates..The thank you page is used as a confirmation once the lead has entered his email. The conversion-tracking pixel of the Facebook ad is placed in the thank you page to track the conversions made by the ad.

After the lead has entered her name and email address, the thank you page appears.

The lead must check her inbox and click on the link.

Mail List Manager (Mailchimp)

The mail list manager or shall we say the email storage tool must then be integrated with the email catcher in order to handle thousands of email that will be collected. A list must be set up in Mailchimp and the confirmation and thank you email must be personalized according to your product.

Here is the confirmation email that reaches the inbox of the lead.

After verifying, a confirmation email will be sent.

Let’s Get Started in Facebook ad

First, we will access  Facebook Business Manager. If you have no account in Facebook Business Manager, you may access HERE.

As per Facebook’s Help Center, Business Manager is a tool to help businesses manage their Facebook Pages, Ad Accounts and Apps in one place. You can also access Power Editor in Business Manager

There are many ways to create Facebook ads in Power Editor and one popular technique is making “dark posts” or in other words unpublished posts. First, we will choose the appropriate Facebook page that the ad will reside, then click the “Create Post” to start the creation.

After clicking the “Create Post”, a window in creating unpublished post will pop-up.

After filling up the blanks. Click the “Create Post”.

Now we will create a campaign in Power Editor. The campaign name must be our main objective why we are creating the facebook ad.

After creating the campaign, we will create the ad set. Here we will define the budget, schedule, placement and bidding for the ad.

Next, we will set up the budget and schedule of the ad. The “Budget” will be set to “Per day” and budget is only 40.00 Philippine Peso (1.0 US dollar). The schedule of the ad will then be to the desired time frame.

Now we will configure the audience of our Facebook ad.

After setting up the Audience, the placement of the ad will be configured. Since we decided earlier to place the ad in the Desktop News Feed then we can immediately set the placement.

The last part in Ad Sets is the Optimization and Pricing. The “Clicks” was formerly know as CPC. We will follow the suggested bid Facebook has given.

Once we are finished in Ad Set, we will go to Ads.

Screenshot_112114_110648_AM

We will then choose the page where the dark post resides.

Screenshot_112114_111147_AM

A preview will appear in the right side of the Power Editor.

Screenshot_112114_114600_AM

After we have generated the preview, we will now generate the conversion-tracking pixel.

Screenshot_112114_112140_AM

Wait until the conversion-tracking pixel is verified. Once verified you can upload the ad pending for Facebook’s approval. A notification  will be sent once the ad is approved or rejected.

Here is the notification for the approved ad.
